When the dairy cows were still being milked and walked in Aldine, the pregnant cows lived across the street from our home. Some days Chester and I would find a newborn calf that wandered outside of the fence. We would catch it and take the baby up the street to the Smith Dairy Farm to make sure it would be safe in the barn. I loved to watch the cows early in the morning from our picture window in the living room; especially my favorite, “Big Red”. Unfortunately, the farmer sold the cows and I lost my beloved neighbors.
